Finished in 11 hours Ride time”COAST 2 COAST” CYCLE RIDE 140 MILES ONE DAY ……. 23RD JUNE……
May 10th 2012 by charterHi all just to let you know that this weekend I completed my coast to coast ride,or should I say my sponsored cycle in water ride!!
Having travelled up the M6 on Friday with severe weather warnigs to our hostel in Keswick ,we were all bit worried about what we shall discover on the saturday morning. Having had a good evening meal of pasta and a couple pints in the local pub of real Ale we then tried to get some sleep to be up at 3am for a start at 5am at Whitehaven.
The first obsticle was road closer due to floods ,our coach did manage to get through to drop us off at Whithaven where we then proceeded to ride back to keswick for our breakfast. 35miles.
Second leg was to get to the other side of the lakes and up to the top of the highest point of the Pennines to make it a total of 75 miles.I reached this point at 12.30 (Half way)
The 3rd leg was to meet the Johnsons Coach at a 100 mile point and then push on to finish the ride.
All in all finished at 8pm on the evening and took 15hrs and a ride time of 11 hours .Please go to my just giving page to make a donation for Breakthrough Cancer.
Thanks to all the team at Johnsons Coaches for making this a very exciting and long adventure !

Well I’m off on another adventure , this year I am going to ride the coast to coast ride from New haven in the Lake District to Tynemouth in Newcastle , setting off at 5 am on the Saturday morning and finishing around 6pm on the Saturday evening.
Why because I would like to raise some money on the way for my friends Charity “Breakthrough Cancer”…. Unfortunately my dear friend Helen Bird is no longer here to give me her wise words as she sadly passed away last September loosing her very brave battle with Cancer. She gave me huge Inspiration and never ever gave up and was always so positive in everything she did. Helen will be my driving inspiration on this mammoth cycle route . I will be setting up a just giving site over the next few days so please look out for it on the next blog.
I am cycling with a group of friends who are part of the Johnson Coaches Cycle Team …John Johnson has invited me on this trip and would like to thank him for organising this tour.
I will post some more blogs on how the training is going etc …. Out early this morning 6 am and cycling home tonight should clock up 45 miles today .. and off out Saturday to do 70 miles . Am away for 4 days 23rd of May to cycle round Wales 80-100 miles a day ,so i hope this will give me a good head start for the C2C ride.
Will catch up with you all soon and thanks for reading my latest news.
